Welcome to the web site of Barnsley Cricket Club

Barnsley Cricket Club - Shaw Lane - Barnsley - England.

Barnsley Cricket Club would like to welcome you to the areas premier cricket club's website. We pride ourselves on our history, facilities and infrastructure, and what we can offer to ALL Sponsors, players, parents and supporters. In 2012 we celebrated Barnsley CC's 150th Anniversary and over those years the club has produced many county cricketers and even International stars, such as Geoffrey Boycott and Darren Gough. In fact England & Yorkshire star Gary Ballance is still registered as a Barnsley CC player.

The first team will play in the inaugural ECB Premier Yorkshire League South and will be led by Jon Trower in 2016. The new league follows the decision to split the old Yorkshire League into two Premier Leagues, North and South. The top four clubs in last season's South Yorkshire Senior Cricket League and Wakefield Thornes from the Central Yorkshire League join the Yorkshire League clubs to make up the new division. We again welcome back Zohaib Ahmad as this seasons overseas professional. The top team in the new league will play off against the champions of the Yorkshire North League

The second team at Barnsley CC are in Division One of the South Yorkshire Senior Cricket League (SYSCL), and after missing out on promotion by one place last summer, they'll be hoping for a run at the title. Led by Andrew Clayton, with a good mixture of quality seasoned players and talented juniors they look a strong outfit.

During any Saturday when a game is on the main field at Shaw Lane, you can pop up onto the 'Holgate' field to see a mix of tomorrow's stars and yesterday's stalwarts plying their trade in the third and fourth teams. The third team are in Division Three of the SYSCL and led by Andrew Frogett and the fourth team are in Division Six of the Pontefract League led by Steve Bamforth. Our Colts team led by Colin Chapman make up our 5 teams that are in action all weekends.

So let's all hope for a summer of sun, runs and wickets. In the year of the Griffin!!!!!!
