Barnsley CC presentation 2013
A fantastic Christmas presentation luncheon was enjoyed by over 80 people at Shaw Lane in our Griffin Suite.
A four course meal, plus entertainment from the really funny Neil Diamundo, preceded the actually Presentation.
Our Chairman Pete Brannan handed out the awards, for the 2013 season. They started with prizes for players maiden centuries and five wicket hauls. The three first centurions were Spencer Lavender, Reece Sellers and Greg Cranston. The two bowlers to get their first '5 fors' were Ben Cherry and Alex Gough.
The fourth team batting was won by Greg Cranston and the bowling and Player of the Year awards were picked up by Steve Clifford.
The third team saw Spencer Lavender collect the batting prize and Harsha Perera walked away with both the bowling and Player of the Year awards.
The second team bowling was won by Ahmed Yar, the batting and Player of the Year were won by Stevie Walters.
The batting prize for the Yorkshire League was collected by Jon Trower and the bowling award went to Ali Jahangir.
The Player of the Year for the first team is decided by votes after each game, in which five points are awarded for first place, 3 points for second and a point for third. The trophy handed out for this is the Ronnie Wilkinson Trophy, this year the trophy was eagerly contested but in the end Ali Jahangir at eighteen years old, became the youngest winner of the Award.
The George Benson Award, is for the best Junior in Senior cricket. This was won by Callum Bethel for his 33 wickets in the Yorkshire League.
The raffle then saw Kath Grigg win two tickets for the executive lounge at Oakwell for Barnsley's 3rd Round FA Cup tie. Paul Benson won the quiz and a meal for four at Shaw Lane.
The feedback from the day has been great and helped to raise funds at the club. As the programme handed out with the Buck's Fizz stated, 'The Start of a New Era' and if this was the start, we're sure we're in for some fantastic times ahead!!!!
